Welcome to Teton Holistic Veterinary Care!

Providing a Wide Range of Naturopathic Services to YOUR DOOR!

Holistic medicine includes any modality that prioritizes the patient as a whole when assessing illness and choosing treatment. All aspects of the patient are considered when assessing illness, including physical attributes, behavior traits, lifestyle, diet, and housing situation. Similarly, all aspects of patient healing are factored into treatment selection; improvement in the whole being, not just a single organ or tissue, is the goal.

Alternative medicine includes any modality not historically included in conventional care. Acupuncture, herbal therapy, and the like are not taught in a typical DVM program. CAVM (Complementary & Alternative Veterinary Medicine) is the catch-phrase used these days when discussing alternative medicine for animals. Alternative methods tend to be natural (Naturopathic) and holistic in their origins and implementations.

Benefits of Naturopathic Care

The modalities practiced by Dr. Davis are gentle yet strengthening, suitable for all ages. The greatest advantage here is the potential recovery of function, not just the alleviation of symptoms. In cases of arthritis, for example, treatment is geared toward building muscle tone and strengthening connective tissues while simultaneously alleviating pain. Another benefit is the potential to alleviate the side effects of conventional drugs, or increase their efficacy. And in cases where no conventional option exists, alternative methods are an ideal answer.

When to begin naturopathic care is a common question. The simple answer is: Anytime! The earlier treatment is begun in any disease process, the more effective and long-lasting it tends to be. That being said, even starting late can provide significant benefit. The key is choosing the right blend of options for a particular patient's stage and situation. A short list of ailments Dr. Davis has successfully alleviated includes intervertebral disc disease, epilepsy, anxiety, allergies, arthritis, kidney failure, pancreatitis, hepatitis, inflammatory bowel disease, urinary tract infections, and endocrine diseases such as adrenal, pancreatic, and thyroid imbalances. And naturopathic modalities aren't just for treating illness! Healthy animals benefit from maintenance care to help prevent illness, as well as optimize performance during events such as shows, agility, lure coursing, sled dog racing, steeplechase, barrel racing, and the like. Try naturopathic care for your animal friends!

Benefits of Mobile Services

Mobile Service to Your Door

The advantages of mobile care include convenience for clients (no drive time, no waiting in a lobby or exam room, less time spent away from other activities) and for patients (no loading for transport, no major disturbance to their normal routine, no encounters with strangers).
But perhaps the best benefit...

Patients can RELAX much more easily in the comfort of their own homes and barns!

The more relaxed patients are, the more effective their treatments tend to be. And nothing aids that better than being in a familiar place with familiar sounds and familiar smells!

*Familiarity is the key.*

Housecalls are a wonderful way to bring the veterinarian into that animal's circle of familiarity.

When patients have already met Dr. Davis in their familiar zone, treating them at their regular vet's office when needed (during intensive care, during or following surgeries, and even during routine visits) can bring an added calm to an otherwise stressful situation. Check with your conventional veterinarian's office to see if you can arrange a naturopathic visit with them. Dr. Davis is always happy and eager to coordinate care!

How to Get Started

how to get started with teton holistic veterinary care

Tap to Contact THVC

Tap the picture here to get to the Contact Page. You can either call, or fill out the simple email form including the details of your animal's situation.

*It's that easy!*

Dr. Davis will respond as soon as she can, and begin the process of scheduling, collecting pertinent records from the other veterinarians providing care, and gathering your own observations to form a whole picture of your animal's history. (Please note that no medical advice can be provided without an in-person consultation and physical exam.) An estimate for the consultation, including any travel fees, will be provided prior to the first visit.

Sometimes patients have seen multiple veterinarians...primary, specialists, emergency, etc. And sometimes not all the records are forthcoming prior to consultation. While having all the records ahead of time is extremely helpful, not having them isn't a dealbreaker. In such cases, a tentative treatment plan amenable to change will be formulated. Any recommended labwork or imaging will be referred back to your primary veterinarian, as well as any conventional drug treatments. Of course, having good diagnostics done ahead of consultation is even better!

Things to Include in Your Email:
- Animal's name, age, and breed.
- Current complaints/diagnoses.
- Current medications/supplements list.
- Address where consultation will occur.
- Your phone number.

Most of the year driving conditions in the general Teton region are good, but there are days when the roads just aren't safe. If that occurs, Dr. Davis will reschedule your housecall at no additional charge. In similar fashion, when it comes to emergencies (sometimes life happens!) a one-time free reschedule will be offered. Repeat reschedules will require an additional fee.

Once the consultation and exam have been completed, Dr. Davis will formulate a treatment plan and, if it has already been scheduled, provide the first treatment at that visit. It's important to note that alternative methods tend to work more gradually than conventional ones. That's part of being a more gentle approach! So you may not see much change after just one visit. Depending on the condition being treated, results can be immediate or may take a month or more.
Follow-up visits, if needed, tend to produce sequentially better and longer-lasting results with each one. Treatment intervals are extended as improvement continues, with some patients (particularly older ones) requiring ongoing occasional tune-ups.

How to Prepare for the Visit:
- Keep patient in a space suitable for exam and treatment.
- Provide a familiar blanket or bed for the patient.
- Have appropriate snacks available as reward!

What to Expect after Treatment:
As with humans, some animals post-treatment may experience a temporary aggravation of symptoms which should only last 24-48 hours if they occur at all. Most patients do not experience this, but if they do it's usually a mild increase in pre-existing discomfort.
- If your arthritic pet feels like a million bucks after treatment, please prevent over-exertion.
- Gradual improvement typically occurs over the course of a few to several treatments.
